Report summarizing the research done over the summer for our mentors, Drs Boris Slepchenko and Masoud Nickaeen, co-written with my research partner, Ryan Fantasia.
The goal of the research was to explore a new model using partial differential equations (PDEs) for the movement of kinesin, a type of protein in neurons. At the time, I was a prospective math major, while my partner was more specialized in biology. Accordingly, the parts addressing calculations and equations are mostly mine, while the others were more of a joint effort.
